World in Conflict - Soviet Assault is a game add-on. It somewhat expands the single-player and multiplayer experience of the original World in Conflict game. This pack includes six new single player missions and two new multiplayer maps. The maps can be downloaded for free from different sites all over the Net, so this add-on is really all about those six new missions.
Soviet Assault changes the way the game is played a bit. The new six missions are played from both the American and the Soviet perspective. In the original game, you only played as the Americans. This new shift in perspective makes the game feel more epic in my opinion. You experience the ups and downs of the two largest military powers in the world as they battle for world domination. The new missions should add a good 2 or 3 hours of gameplay to the original experience.
The writing of these new missions is impeccable and it adds a lot to one of the best games ever made. Perhaps the game becomes a little dull at the end, but this is mainly because you progress from the very exciting few missions to the more complicated last ones.
All in all, this new pack breathes new air to a series that needs more add-ons or sequels soon. It is not a great value, since you are only getting a handful of missions for $15. But if you are a fan of the game, there is no choice here: you have to get it.
